Approval of Lease Agreement with the Hopkins Historical Society for Hopkins Activity Center; Imihy CITY OF HOPKINS City Council Report 2025-158 To: Honorable Mayor and Council Members Mike Mornson, City Manager From: Laila Imihy, AICP – Special Projects and Initiatives Manager Date: October 21, 2025 Subject: Lease Agreement with the Hopkins Historical Society for the Hopkins Activity Center _____________________________________________________________________ RECOMMENDED ACTION MOTION TO enter into a lease agreement with the Hopkins Historical Society for space at the Hopkins Activity Center OVERVIEW On April 1, 2025, the City of Hopkins and the Hopkins Historical Society (HHS) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding which outlined agreed upon terms for the HHS’ exit of the property at 907 Mainstreet, which has been leased to them by the City since 2015. Following a termination of that lease on July 15, 2025, City Staff have been working with the HHS on terms to lease the space at the Hopkins Activity Center. The HHS operates within a space within the Hopkins Activity Center and has done so since 1974, however does not currently have a valid lease for the space. Staff and the HHS have agreed upon a five (5) year lease at the rate of one (1) dollar per year for space, which can be extended for another five (5) years so long as both parties agree. Tonight, staff requests the council sign the attached lease to provide space for the HHS at the Hopkins Activity Center.
