Proposed Action.
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: "Move that
Council adopt Resolution 96 -48. Resolution for award of bid,
Wellhouse #1 Renovation."
Bids were opened on May 9, 1996 for the above referenced project.
Seven bids were received and are tabulated below. The low bidder
was M.C. Magney Construction Inc., Excelsior, MN.
The city's consultant, RCM Inc. has checked the bids and has
reviewed the qualifications of the low bidder, M.C. Magney
Construction, Inc. Their review of the contractors
qualifications and past experience meets their criteria, and they
are recommending that the city award the contract to M.C. Magney
Construction, Inc.

Analysis of Issues

The Capital Improvement Plan total project budget is
$676,500. The current total project cost is $675,200
($631,000 - construction + $44,2000 - design & construction
administration)
o How will the project be funded?
The project will be funded from water revenues as identified
in the 1996 -2000 CIP.
o What is the construction schedule?
It is anticipated construction will begin June 3rd and be
completed by November 1, 1996.

HOPKINS WELLHOUSE 11 RENOVATION

bids were received for Hopkins Wellhouse
Renovation on May 9, 1996, and
seven bids were received and the bid of M.C.
Magney Construction, Inc. in the amount of
$631,000 is the lowest reasonable bid for this
project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the
City of Hopkins, Minnesota, that the Mayor and
City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to
enter into a contract with M.C. Magney
Construction, Inc., for and on behalf of the city.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Hopkins this 21st
day of May 1996.
