RE: MUNICIPAL PARKING LOT #500
BID OPENING
Dear Steve:
Please find attached a copy of the bid tabulation for the referenced project. As you are
aware, five bids were received at City Hall on July 9, 1996. The low bidder was DMJ
Corporation at a proposed construction cost of $40,096.10, and the bids ranged to a high
bid of $48,084.40. Three of the bids ranged between $40,096.10 and $41,209.68,
indicating that the bidding was competitive and the City received a good bid for the
proposed work.
Based upon the previous bid of the project in 1995 (approximately $45,000) and the
engineer's estimate for the project ($47,500), the low bid was approximately 15% lower
than expected. Following a favorable review of DMJ Corporation's references, we would
recommend the City of Hopkins award the bid to DMJ at the July 16, 1996, City Council
meeting.
We anticipate this letter adequately addresses your concerns regarding this project. Please
contact our office with any further requirements or questions.
Sincerely,
MSA, CONSULTING ENGINEERS
Greg P.E.
