Proposed Action:
APPOINTMENT OF ELECTION JUDGES
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move that the following persons be
appointed to serve as Election Judges for the State Primary Election to be held on
September 10, 1996 and set the wage at $7.00 per hour for Chair Judges and $6.50 for
Election Judges.
Overview:
State Statute requires that Election Judges for precincts in a municipality be appointed
• and their wages be fixed by the governing body of the municipality, State Statute also
requires that a balance of major parties be represented in all partisan elections.
The Chair Judges have served in that capacity previously and have been chosen for
their experience. They are responsible for submitting the names of those who will work
under them to the Deputy City Clerk. The City provides training for all who are
appointed.
The number of judges posted in each polling place is determined by the number of
registered voters in the precinct and the history of new registrations in the precinct.
