Analysis of Issues BID AWARD SELF - POWERED ROTARY SNOW BLOWER Council Report: 96 -177 Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: "Award the bid for a Self- Powered Rotary Snow Blower to MacQueen Equipment for a Klaver SnoGo model WK800 at a net cost of $53,102." Bid opening for a new Self- Powered Rotary Snow Blower was held at Hopkins City Hall on October 30, 1996. The following bids were received: BIDDER TOTAL TRADE NET COST MacQueen Equipment 58,102 5,000 53,102 Aspen Equipment 65,560 5,000 60,560 Scharber & Sons No Bid The city currently utilizes a 1968 Root single stage snow blower for its snow removal program. The snow blower is used by the Public Works for loading snow from downtown and surrounding area. It is also used for piling snow at the snow dump sites. Staff recommendation for the Klaver SnoGo from MacQueen Equipment is based on compliance with specifications, lowest cost, and overall best interest of the city. o Is the award to MacQueen Equipment for the Model WK800 Klaver Snow Blower in the best interest of the city? The city budgeted $62,000 in the 1996 Equipment Replacement Budget for the snow blower. The bid with trade from MacQueen Equipment for $53,102 is within the budget amount.
