CR 06-030 Change Polling Place for Precinct 7 March 2, 2006 Council Report 2006-030 Change the Polling Place for Precinct Seven From Greenfield Apartments to St Therese Southwest, 1011 Feltl Court Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to adopt Resolution 2006- 017, resolution desianatina the Hopkins Fire Station as the pollina place for Precinct 7. Overview In 2005, the City Council adopted a resolution that divided precinct six into two precincts, which are now precincts six and seven. At the time that the precinct boundaries were changed, St. Therese was designated as the polling place for precinct 7. In 2005, the City used the polling place for the City Elections. Residents of St Therese wandered into and out of the polling place area throughout the day, making it difficult for the judges and interrupting the voting porcess. The Director of St. Therese indicated that it would be difficult to ensure that these types of incidences would be prevented. For that reason, staff determined that the Hopkins Fire Station would be more appropriate to use as a polling place. Primary Issues to Consider . What are the options? There are two sites in South Hopkins that could be used as a polling place; one being St. Therese, the other being Greenfield Apartments. Neither has worked out in the past. The Hopkins Fire Department would be the best location. . Supportina Information . Copy of Resolution 2006-017 .
