CR 91-62 Activity Center Plaques
. March 1, 1991 council Report # 91-62
ACTIVITY CENTER PLAQUES
proposed Action
staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to
instruct staff to install the Activity Center dedication
plaque in the entry way to the Activitv Center.
Adoption of this motion will result in the Community Center
dedication plaque being placed in the entry way to the
remodeled Activity Center. The school dedication plaque
would not be installed.
Overview
During the remodeling of the Activity Center, two plaques
were removed from the walls and placed for storage at the
Historical Society area. One of the plaques is the original
building dedication plaque for the building when it was used
as a school. The other is the dedication plaque for the
Community Center when it was first acquired as part of the
Renaissance project.
. The Historical Society has asked that both plaques be
mounted at the entry way to the Activity Center. Staff is
recommending that only the plaque which denotes the
Community Center be installed.
Primary Issues to Consider
0 Should the School District plaque be installed?
Clearly this is a policy issue, but it would be staff's
opinion that the Activity Center plaque is more appropriate
for the entry way and that the original building plaque does
not compliment the current use of the building.
0 Should a new plaque be ordered to denote the
remodeling project currently completed at the
Center.
Again, this is a Council policy issue, however, staff is of
the opinion that the remodeling does not warrant a new
plaque.
