HOPKINS - MINNETONKA JOINT RECREATION BOARD
APPOINTMENTS
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion; " Appoint Paul
Ahles as a representative to the Hopkins- Minnetonka Joint Recreation
Board."
Backaround
The Hopkins Minnetonka Joint Recreation Board is comprised of six
members from the Minnetonka Park Board and three members from the
Hopkins Park Board. As part of the Joint Recreation Board Agreement
the Chairperson of the Hopkins Park Board must serve on this joint
board along with two other Park Board members. The Chairperson and
Vice Chair along with the three Joint Board representatives are
reappointed each year.
® On June 30, 1991 three vacancies on the Park Board were created by the
expiration of the terms of John Hutchison, Christy Smith and Marcia
Taubr. At the July 2, 1991 Council meeting, Paul Ahles, Tom Schmidt
and Benjamin Cohen were chosen to fill these three vacancies. The
Park Board met on July 15, 1991 at which time Paul Ahles volunteered
to fill the Joint Recreation Board vacancy created by the expiration
of the term of John Hutchison. The Board subsequently voted
unanimously to have Paul Ahles serve as representative on the Joint
Recreation Board. Chairperson, Darrel McAnnany and Vice Chairperson
Bill Schumacher will continue to serve as representatives on the Joint
Recreation Board Until replaced.

Backaround
The Hopkins Minnetonka Joint Recreation Board is comprised of six
members from the Minnetonka Park Board and three members from the
Hopkins Park Board.
At the January 14, 1991 Park Board meeting Marcia Taubr and Christy
Smith requested to be replaced as representatives to the Joint
Recreation Board. The Board voted unanimously to have Darrel McAnnany
and Bill Schumacher replace them as representatives. John Hutchison
will continue as a representative to the Joint Recreation Board until
his Park Board term expires and a replacement is chosen.

Proposed Action
Background
The Hopkins - Minnetonka Joint Recreation Board is comprised
of six members from the Minnetonka Park Board and three
members from the Hopkins Park Board. Two replacements are
needed to fill vacancies left by Connie Connors and David
Bangerter.
At the July 23, 1990 Park Board meeting Marcia Taubr
volunteered to serve on the board until January 1990 and
Christy Smith volunteered to serve on the board until June
of 1991. Motions were made and both recommendations were
approved unanimously. Chairman John Hutchison affirmed that
he would continue as a representative.

J. NEW BUSINESS ITEMS
1. J. Hutchison requested that replacements for Chairperson and
Vice Chairperson be voted on. C. Smith moved and M."Taubr
seconded a motion to nominate D. McAnnany for Chairperson.
On the vote; C. Smith, M. Taubr, J. Hutchison, and B.
Schumacher voted yes. The motion was approved.
2. J. Hutchison moved and M. Taubr, seconded a motion to
nominate B. Schumacher for Vice Chairperson. On the vote;
C. Smith, M.. Taubr, J. Hutchison and D. McAnnany voted yes.
The motion was approved.
E The.Board recommended that B. Schumacher and D. McAnnany be
appointed to replace M. Taubr and C. Smith as
representatives to the Joint Recreation board whose Joint
Recreation Board terms expired on January 1, 1991 and that
J., Hutchison continue on the Joint Recreation Board until
his Park Board term expires on June 30, 1991.
V. NEXT MEETING
The next regular meeting of the Park Board is scheduled for
Monday, February 25, 1991 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers aZ
City Hall.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
J. Hutchison moved and B. Schumacher and seconded a " motion t--
adjourn. On the vote; Hutchison, Taubr, McAnnany and Schumacher
voted yes. The motion was approved. The meeting adjourned a=
9:10 p.m.

L. Gustafson asked the Board's opinion on an idea of having
a picture album showing all parks. D. McAnnany responded
that it might be helpful to have photos of parks where there
is a problem or need.
H. HOPKINS - MINNETONKA JOINT RECREATION BOARD
D. McAnnany reported the this months meeting was postponed,
until next week. He reported that the agenda for that
meeting will be a discussion on the proposed budget for
1992. L. Gustafson requested that the Board fill the
vacancy on the Joint Recreation Board. -D. McAnnany asked
for a volunteer and P. Ahles offered to fill the position
until January. B. Schumacher motioned and B. Cohen seconded
a motion to appoint Paul_ Ahles as representative to-the-
Joint Recreation Board. On the vote; B. Schumacher, , D.�
McAnnany, B. Cohen, P. Ahles and T. Schmidt voted yes. The
motion was approved.
I. NEW BUSINESS ITEMS
1. C. Redepenning took the opportunity to welcome new
members on behalf of the City Council and to thank
previous members M. Taubr and J. Hutchison who 'we're
present at the meeting. This welcome was planned for
the previous meeting (park tour and-picnic) however at"
that time no replacements had been appointed.
VI. NEXT MEETING
The next regular meeting of the Park Board is scheduled for
Monday, August 19, 1991'at 7:00 p.m.
VII. ADJOURNMENT
P. Ahles moved and B. Schumacher seconded a motion to
adjourn. On the vote; Schumacher, McAnnany, Ahles, Cohen
and Schmidt voted yes. The motion was approved. The meeting
adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
