AMM - 1992 LEGISLATIVE POLICY
Council Report # 91 -233
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to adopt
as "top priorities" AMM policies I -A, I -C, II -A, VI -A, and VI -M.
This action will result in the City of Hopkins voting on its top
priorities and indicating those to the Board of Directors of the
AMM.
Ov rview
The Association of Metropolitan Municipalities (AMM) annually
approves policies and legislative proposals.
As a part of the policy process, the Board of Directors asks each
city to determine its top priorities and to indicate those to the
Board of Directors.
The City Manager has reviewed the AMM policies and is
recommending five policies for the Council's consideration.
Primary Issues to Consider
o What alternatives exist for the Council on this matter?
While the AMM Board is requesting participation by the City
Council, the Council could take the following alternatives: (1)
approve the City Manager's recommended policies, (2) discuss and
determine that other priorities should be listed in place of
those recommended by the City Manager, (3) decide not to
participate in the priorities discussion, (4) allow each
appointed official to indicate their own priorities and to submit
them in that fashion.
