CR 91-255 Fees For Billiard TablesNovember 14, 1991 Council Rpt 91 -255
Proposed Action
Staff recommends that the Council approve the following motion:
Move that the Hopkins City Council adopt Resolution #91 -142.
This action will establish new fees for billiard tables.
Overview
When the City Council amended Chapter X of the City Code in order
to set license and permit fees by resolution, a number of fees
were increased. The fee for billiard tables was changed from
$90.00 for the first six tables to $90.00 per table. The City
Council stated that this fee was too high and instructed staff to
come up with a revised fee.
Fees for billiard tables in the metropolitan area range from
between $10.00 per table to $95.00 per table. The old fee for
the first six tables was based upon a per table fee of $15.00.
Staff recommends that the per table fee be raised to $20.00 with
the fee for the first six tables being set at $120.00.
Primary Issues to Consider
o Do these fees cover the City's costs?
Staff expects these fees to cover the City's costs.
o Are these fees in line with those of other cities?
These fees are similar to those charged by other cities.
