Genellie, City Clerk 0 P K November 14, 1991 Report #91 -257 GAMBLING LICENSE APPLICATION BY THE HOPKINS JAYCEES Proposed Action. Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move that the Hopkins City Council adopt Resolution #91 -144 approving the gambling license application of the Hopkins Jaycees to conduct bingo at the Boston Garden. Adoption of this motion will allow the application to be considered by the Minnesota Department of Gaming. The Hopkins Jaycees have requested a gambling license for 1992. This is a new license that would enable the Jaycees to conduct bingo at the Boston Garden restaurant. Bingo would be conducted on Tuesdays from 7 :00 pm to 10:00 pm and Saturdays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The Jaycees currently conduct bingo at Lindees on Saturday mornings. These bingo games would be in addition to the games at Lindees. Primary Issues to Consider. Does this application meet the criteria policy? Yes. o Has the organization conducted its past accordance with state and local laws? Yes. of the City's gambling gambling activities in 1) Approve Resolution #91 -144. This will result in the application being considered by the Department of Gaming. 2) Do not approve the Resolution. This will result in the Department of Gaming turning down the license. Supporting Information. o Resolution #91 -144 o Gambling License Application - available from City Clerk WHEREAS, the Hopkins Jaycees have been an integral part of the Hopkins Community, and WHEREAS, the Hopkins Jaycees have applied for gambling license to conduct lawful gambling in 1992, and WHEREAS, the Hopkins Jaycees have conducted gambling activities in accordance with state law and Hopkins city policy, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the. City of Hopkins hereby approves the Hopkins Jaycees gambling application to conduct bingo at the Boston Garden restaurant.
