APRIL 27, 2026
CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Hopkins Park Board
was held on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall,
1010 1st Street South.
Chair Hanneman called the meeting to order with members Boor, Flynn, Shadis,
Wilkus, Woodfill, Lyksett and Youth Member Rodriguez attending. Others in attendance
included Park Supervisor Brummer, and Administrative Assistant Miller.
ADOPT AGENDA
Motion by Wilkus Second by Shadis
Motion to Adopt the Agenda.
Ayes: All.
Nays: None. Motion carried.
COMMUNITY COMMENT
CONSENT AGENDA
Motion by Flynn Second by Lyksett
Motion to Approve the Consent Agenda.
1. Amended minutes of the March 23, 2026 Park Board Meeting
Ayes: All.
Nays: None. Motion carried.
GENERAL BUSINESS
VI.1. May 9 Garden Kick Off; Brummer
Brummer gave an update to the board on the garden plot kick off event on May 9. The
board discussed how they would have a table there and could talk to residents, other
groups tabling and the plant pickup.
VI.2. May 17 Garlic Mustard; Boor
Member Boor gave an update to the board on the garlic mustard at Shady Oak Pond.
There will be an event on May 17 from 10am-12pm, planting native plants. There will
be a flyer to hand out at the garden plot kick off event. During the event, volunteers will
be planting donated plants.
GENERAL PARK UPDATE
V.1. Public Works Update; Brummer
Parks supervisor Brummer gave the board an update on Public Works. This included

that Burnes Park received a new field and sand was added to the playgrounds. She
also noted that the website has been updated for the Central Park project and that the
Pavillion will stay open during constriction. It was also discussed that May 4 will be the
ground breaking ceremony at Central Park and the construction map was shown to
the board. There was mention that at Maetzold Field there could be a possible 4-plex
ball field and that the playground could be moved.
PARK AREA ASSIGNMENT REPORTS
VII.1. Discussion, Raspberry Park and Oakes Park; Brummer
There was a general discussion about the two parks and members gave updates on
what they saw when they visited each site. It was noted that when you Google search
Raspberry Park a picture of a house comes up instead of the park, however, on the
Waze app it does recognize the new name.
Oakes Park was also discussed and it was noted that the playground and the hill were
being utilized. Dog were running around and the tennis courts were not utilized but
there is a lot of open space.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Members Boor and Wilkus talked to Nine Mile Cove residents about Valley Park and
how construction would impact them and discussed parks franchise fees.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Park Board, and upon a motion
by Wilkus, second by Woodfill, the meeting was unanimously adjourned 7PM.
