GAMBLING LICENSE REQUEST
HOPKINS EVENING LIONS CLUB
PrqDosed Action.

Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move
that the City of Hopkins finds that the gamblinq license
application of the Hopkins Evening Lions Club is consistent
with the existing city policy on Charitable qamblinQ.
Adoption of this motion will allow the application to be
considered by the Charitable Gambling Control Board.
Overview.
. On October 4. 1988 James Reid of the Hopkins Evening Lions
Club made application for a license for a raffle to be held
on December 2/ 1,88 at the Hopkins American Legion Club
Room. The use of profits will be donated to various
charities. This gambling application complies with the
eYisting gambling policy.

RESOLUTION NO. 88-93
WAIVER OF SIXTY DAY WAITING PERIOD
FOR CHARITABLE GAMBLING APPLICATION
WHEREAS, the Hopkins Evening Lions Club is an important source
of support for local Hopkins charities, and
WHEREAS, to accomodate the Club, a waiver of the sixty day
waiting period allowed the city of Hopkins by the Minnesota
Charitable Gambling Board is necessary, ....,.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City council of the City
of Hopkins hereby waives the sixty day requirement for the
Hopkins Evening Lions Club gambling application.
. Adopted by the City Council of the city of Hopkins this 1st day
of November, 1988.
