pronose'" Action.
staff recommends adoption of the following motion~ Move that the
HopJl;ins Cit.v Council approve the aDplication for a parade Dermit by
th~ V.F.W. for a parade from 5th Ave. to 17th ~ve. on Apri~ ~9. 1989.
staff also recommends that the Council authorize the expenditure o~
the necessary funds to pay for city services in conjunction with this
parade.

Overview.
The Hopkins V.F.W. will be hosting the annual loyalty day parade for
the metro V.F.W.s during the last weekend in April. This parade will
consist of over 100 units, including several bands, and over 1,000
veterans.
The V.F.W., in its application, stated that they would like the parade
to run from 5th Avenue to Shaky Oak Road. The police, fire and public
works departments oppose allowing a parade to Shady Oak. They
approved a parade to 17th Avenue but indicated that there would be
costs to the city in allowing this parade.
The approximate cost to the city would be $2#355. Since this parade
is not one of the city supported activities, staff is requesting that .~
the Council authorize the necessary funds.
