Re: Paving of Alleys - City initiated Projects
At the last meeting we suggested using City - initiated projects
for paving of alleys with concrete.
1. The City Engineer's opinion that paving with concrete
has been a great improvement over bituminous alleys. (see
attached report)
2. Our feeling that public opinion in these projects generally
includes a few who are very favorable, a few opposed, and
the bulk of the citizens would go along if someone else
initiated, the project. The statute allowing City-initiated
projects is tailor -male for that type of public opinion
situation.
In neighborhoods where the City- initiated project may face
difficulties, the staff is prepared to meet with the citizens prior
to the public hearing to clear un many of the questions and explain
the advantages of concrete alleys.
