Re: Nine Mile Creek Bank Stabilization and Habitat Enhancement
This work session item is in regards the feasibility report recently prepared by WSB
& Associates for the above mentioned project. The original scope of the project
included bank stabilization along Westbrooke Way to protect the street and adjacent
path.
Discussions with the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District opened up the possibility
of doing a larger project with participation from the District. The revised scope of
the feasibility report includes bank stabilization, habitat enhancement, and water
quality improvements from Excelsior Boulevard to Hwy 169 as well as replacing the
culvert under 5th Street South. The total cost is estimated at $2.5 million.
The District would provide 100% of the total proj ect cost for all aspects of the
project except for the minor pathway improvements. The culvert under 5th Street
South is currently in the CIP for 2007 with a budget of$550,000. This cost would
also be included in the District funding.
The feasibility report will be handed out at the work session and details the
improvements and costs for this project.
The process for funding begins with the City petitioning the watershed for the
improvements. Final determination of funding will occur by the end of the calendar
year. With your concurrence, we will put the petition on the consent agenda at the
May 2, 2006 meeting.
