Re: Application by Oakridge Country
Club for a Conditional Use Permit
Dear Mr. Kohnen:
I reside at 602 Drillane Road with my family and am writing with
respect to the above Application.
We wish to go on record as being strongly opposed to the erection of
any fence near our property. Presently we have a beautiful view at
all times of the year out of our back windows and off of our deck. We
own the lot on which our homestead is erected and an adjacent lot, at
the rear of the property. Both lots are heavily wooded and are in a
natural state. A fence along Oakridge Country Club' s property line
would clearly be visible from our house and would be totally
unacceptable to us.
A fence, regardless of the material used to construct it, would give
us a feeling of being penned in, would rob us of much of the view that
we have had of the rolling terrain in the rear of our property, and
would most certainly interfere with some of the wildlife that. we enjoy
in our backyard. It would greatly depreciate the value of our
property.
While I can understand Oakridge Country Club t s desire to fence the'
property because of the development of dense housing they p~rmitted on
the western portion of their property, the neighbors of the Country
Club should not suffer a depreciation of value or enjoyment of their
land.

An additional consideration is that there is a beautiful view of the
Country Club property from County Road 18, Oakridge Road, which would
certainly be adversely affected by the erection of any type of fence.
That view is a valuable community resource which should not be allowed
to be disrupted. Less drastic steps could be utili-zed to assure the
Country Club that their property would not be harmed by trespassers.
We have lived in our house for almost nine years "and have not
experienced any strangers cutting through the yards to gain access to
Oakridge Country Club's property. In fact, the only people who ever
cut through any of the yards near our property are members of the
Country Club who take a short cut to the tennis courts.
Accordingly, we would greatly appreciate it if you would make our
position known to the Zoning and Planning Commission and to other
interested city officials. While I am hopeful of attending the
continued hearing on February 28, 1984, my schedule may not permit me
to do so.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Very truly yours,
