City of Hopkins
1010 S. 1 st St.
Hopkins, Mn. 55343
Dear l-1r. Craig:
I am writing as a representative of the Creekside Chapter of the Izaak
Walton League of America. We are an environmental group comprised of
members from the communities bordering on Minnehaha Creek.
o
The storm sewer at Monk Avenue and Lake St. is in bad condition. The
cement around the conduit has deteriorated to the point of sending large
chunks of cement sliding into the creek. There are also many very large
boulders in the creek just below the sewer mouth. This is going to
present a real problem to canoers in the upcoming season.
We ask that you bring this matter to the attention of the Hopkins City
Council.
Our largest project, as a group, is the restoration and ~aintenance of
the creek and we find the bordering municipalities are appreciative of the
unique value of the creek. If there are any questions or you feel an
appearance at the City Council meeting would be in order please let us
know.
Sincerely,
J~'<~~
