Robert Mason and Don Perkl have prepared a revised proposal for
the development of the 917 Excelsior Avenue West property (formerly
Nelson's Shoe Store). The physical design is the same as previously
proposed. It enta i Is comp I ete renovat i on of the 1600 sq ua re foet
Nelson shoe store building, construction of a 3416 addition to the
building on the property behind both the Nelson Shoe Store and the
Preferred Travel bui ldings. Included in the project is a 900 square
foot public enclosed walkway.
Cost of the total project is estimated to be $ 300,000. Mason and
Perkl are seeking a low interest commercial rehab loan of $200,000,
to cover a portion of building renovation, the bui lding addition and
construction of the public walkway. The walkway would be given to
the City as a public space. Responsibi lity for the maintenance of
the public walkway would be the City's.
