RESOLTUION 83-3077 CITY OF HOPKINS Hennepin County, Minnesota ~ RESOLUTION NO. 83-3077 RESOLUTION SETTING POLICY FOR DISPOSITION OF UNNEEDED OR OUTDATED CITY GOODS WHEREAS, all municipal goods have a service life, and must someday be disposed of, WHEREAS, it is recommended practice, tor have a written disposition policy, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hopkins, as follows: 1. It shall be the general City of Hopkins policy to either sell unneeded or outdated goods at a public auction, or to offer them as a trade-in on newly purchased goods, whichever course may result, in the opinion of the City Manager, in the most favorable outcome. 2. For goods too unique or unsuited to sell at auction or trade in and valued at less than $1,000, the City Manager shall obtain quotes from appropriate sources, and cause said goods to be sold, reporting the transaction and monies received to the City Council. 3. For goods described at 2. above which are valued at more than $1,000, the City Manager shall place a legal advertisement in the official newspaper, in addition to other marketing efforts. Before the sale shall be consumated, the City Council must approve it by motion. 4. All goods which cannot be sold at any price may be disposed of as trash in a manner approved by law.
