NOPARKING ZONE 1214 FRIST STREET SOUTH
June 29, 1983
To: City Council and City Manager
From: City Engineer
Re: No Parking Zone at 1214 First Street South (on 13th Avenue side)
The Council received the above request on June 7, 1983 and referred the
request to the Engineer for a report.
The above building is an apartment building at the southeast corner of the
intersection of 13th Avenue & First Street South. The building fronts on 13th
Avenue and has a service walk which runs from the building to the curb. The
east and west side of the street is available for on-street parking with no time
1 i mi t 1 is ted .
The residents of the building feel that a no parking zone should be provided
in front of the building to permit the loading and unloading of passengers in the
vicinity of the service walk. Presently parked cars block this area. The curb
~ at this point is cut down to provide handicapped access to the street.
In the past the City has received similar requests. For example the Council
authori zed a "No Parking" zone for the apartment buildi ng at 114 12th Avenue South
and 34 12th Avenue North. This permits loading and unloading, but does not permit
"parking". This has worked out satisfactorily.
The request is to establish a ten (10) foot No Parking zone in front of the
main entrance to 1214 First Street South (on the 13th Avenue side).
We recommend the above for Council consideration.
Respectfully submitted,
~~~. ~
John J. Strojan
City Engineer
