AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 100 OF THE 1973
1977 CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF HOPKINS
PERTAINING TO CITY CONTRACTS
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Hopkins as follows:
That Sections 100:30, 100:35, and 100:40 be and the same are hereby
repealed and there is hereby enacted in lieu and in place thereof the following:
Section 100:30. CONTRACTS OVER $15,000. If the amount of the
contract is estimated to exceed $15,000, sealed bids shall be
solicited by contracts by the particular municipality or class
thereof provided that with regard to repairs and maintenance of
ditches, bids shall not be required if the estimated amount of
the contract does not exceed the amount specified in Section
106.471, Subdivision 2.
Section 100:35. CONTRACT'S FROM $10,000 to $15,000. If the
amount of the contract is estimated to exceed $10,000 but not
to exceed $15,000, the contract may be made either upon sealed
bids or by direct negotiation, by obtaining two or more quotations
for the purchase or sale when possible, and without advertising
for bids or otherwise complying with the requirements of compet-
itive bidding. All quotations obtained shall be kept on file for
a period of at least one year after receipt thereof.
Section 100:40 CONTRACTS LESS THAN $10,000. If the amount of
the contract is estimated to be $10,000 or less, the contract
may be made either upon quotation or in the open market, in the
discretion of the governing body; but, so far as practicable,
shall be based on at least two quotations which shall be kept
on file for a period of at least one year after receipt thereof.
That this Ordinance is adopted in conformity with the Minnesota
Uniform Municipal Contracting Law, and with Section 6.06 of the
Charter of the City of HOpkins.
First read at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Hopkins held on October 4, 1983 and finally read
approved, adopted and ordered published at a regular meeting of
said Council of said City on October 18, 1983.
