ORDINANCE NO. 82 -514
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 409 OF TIE HOPKINS CODE OF
ORDINANCES VHICH PERTAINS TO SIGNS AND PLACARDS.
BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Hopkins as
That Section 409 of the Hopkins Code of Ordinances pertaining to
signs is hereby amended by adding the following provisions
The present Section 409.01 is hereby repealed and it is hereby
enacted in place and instead thereof the following:
409.0 PLACARDS DEFINED: Placards means and is limited to any
and all temporary "for sale" or "for lease" or political matters and other
similarly related notices located on or near the premises involved.
409.03 BILLBJARDS AND SINS DEFINED: Billboards and signs are
synonymous and are hereby defined and shall mean and include advertising
structures which are portable, 'moveable or immovable and are intended for
or usedas advertising media or other matters except traffic or directional
signs allowed and maintained pursuant to Law.
409:60 MOVEABLE OVEABLE SIMS LOCATIONS, SECURITY: AND PERMITS No
portable, wheel or otherwise mounted mobile signs shall be permitted or
located in any areas which constitute zoning set-back requirements, and
all such mobile signs shall be firmly fixed in place by c hains, cables
or other means approved by the Hopkins Building Inspector and all such signs
shall require special permits to be issued by the City of Hopkins therefor.
409 :62 ELECTRICAL SIGNS Any and every sign, whether wheel
nounted or otherwise mobile, portable or permanent which is connected to,
or operated by electricity shall conform to all of the pertinent provisions
and requirements of the Electric Code and any and all electric :extension
cords connected to or from any such signs are hereby prohibited.
409:64 PLACARDS: Placards may be placed and maintained without
City issued permits as authorized or allowed by the owners, c tenants, or
persons in charge of any premises to be used for such placard placements.( see
also 670 :00 subdiv 1 (h) and (i).)

409:75 PENALTIES: Any owner who violates any of the terns or
provisions of this Ordinance or who fails to comply with any report or order
issued by the Hopkins Building Inspector shall be guilty of a petty misdemeanor.
Each day that the owner or other operator fails to comply with any such report
or Order or of this Ordinance shall constitute a separate offense and such
separate offenses may be alleged in one pleading or complaint and heard or
tried at one hearing or trial with separate penalties resulting or issued
therefrom.
