Problem Areas on StreetsButch: 6i11 CDKAI Per your request Officer Hanlin, accompanied by Fire Captian Richard Nelson, made a check of all city streets and alleys. This was completed between 1930 to 2200 hrs. They found the following streets to be problem areas: 1. Oxford St. east of Blake Road 2. Cambridge St. east of Blake Road 3. Jackson Ave. N. north of 2nd St. 4. Sunnyside Circle 5. Shadyside Circle 6. Robinwood Lane (all) 7. Preston Lane (all) 8. 200 Block of Meadowbrook Road They also found that the following streets were very narrow and they could be a problem if cars were parked on both side of the streets. There were, however almost no cars parked in the areas: 1. Hobby Acres 2. Belgrove 3. Interlachen Park According to Capt. Nelson the only alleys that a fire truck could not manuever are the "T" alleys and they cannot get through these even in the summer. When I spot checked several areas I found that the reason we have a problem on the streets mentioned, is the number of cars parked on both sides of the street. In all the other areas of the city I found very few cars parked on the street. In several places people have cleared the street to the curb so they could park in front of their residence or they have cleared part of their yard. On most streets there are "Snow Snakes" in the four corners of the intersection from the cross plowing. These, in scene cases, may restrict the ability to turn a fire truck around corners and they do present a visibility problem. We did have several calls about the poor snow removal at the Pines Trailer Court. We contacted the fire marshal who drew up a order to have the snow removed. Officer Hanlin and Capt. Nelson delivered it. Reoannendations 1. Attempt to plow or remove the "Snow Snakes" ASAP. 2. Post one side of the problem streets "No Parking DA-J J 5. 2 32
