Park Board MinutesCALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL WEST SIDE OF SHADY OAK BEACH HOPKINS COMMUNITY CENTER OLICIESS HOPKINS PARK BOARD Meeting Minutes February 15, 1982 The regular monthly meeting of the Hopkins Park Board was called to order by chairperson Roesner at 7:'2 p.m. in the Hopkins City Hall Council Chambers. Members present were Nelson Berg, Tan Hance, Carol Roesner, and James Shirley; and staff Richard Wilson and Susan Newville. Absent was Chad Tower. Margaret Nelson was the League of Women Voters observer. MINUTES OF The minutes of the January 18 meeting had previously been JANUARY 18, 1982, distributed. Mr. Hance moved and Mr. Berg seconded a motion MEETING to approve the minutes of the January 18 meeting. On the vote Berg, Hance, Roesner, and Shirley voted yes. The motion passed unanimously. This property issue was referred to the Park Board by the Hopkins City Council for a recommendation. There was much discussion including value, use, etc. Mr. Berg moved and Mr. Shirley seconded a motion that this Board recommend pursuing the concept of selling the West Side of Shady Oak Park, after obtaining an appraise value, to either the City of Minnetonka or an appropriate developer (specifically the Meadow Lake developer) with the condition that it be maintained for public park purposes, including boat launching, and that the proceeds be allocated for other park purposes. On the vote Berg, Hance, Roesner, and Shirley voted yes. The notion passed unanimously. Richard Wilson and Susan Newville presented the proposed policies for the Hopkins Community Center as developed at the January 18 meeting of the Park Board. These policies were previously sent to each member so that they could review them before this meeting. After sane discussion of these policies, Mr. Hance moved and Mr. Shirley seconded a motion to adopt this as policy of usage for the Hopkins Community Center, and submit them to the Council for informa- tion purposes. Wises. On the vote Berg, Hance Roesner, and Shirley voted yes. The motion passed unanimously. Susan Newville announced that on Friday, February 5 the Hopkins Community Center celebrated their first anniversary; 250 attended: Mr. Hance moved and Mrs. Roesner seconded a motion that, in the event that the City of Minnetonka elects not to purchase the Shady Oak property for a reasonable sum of money, as viewed by the City of Hopkins, that it may be subject for disposition to private concerns. On the vote, Hance, Roesner, and Shirley voted yes. Mr. Berg voted no. The motion passed.
