Authorization Granting Preliminary Prep of App. for HRAJanuary 15, 1981 To: Bill Craig, City Manager From: Jim Kerrigan, Community Development Director Subject: Possible locations for a public housing development As I discussed with you earlier this week there are a number of possible sites available in the City for locating a public housing development. The following is a listing of some of those sites. 1. The northwest corner of 6th Street South and 7th Avenue South. 2. The northerly portion of the former Homedale Nursery site alo Highway #7. On a portion of the present City garage site The southwest corner of llth Avenue and, First Street South (the homes on this corner are very old and deteriorated). On a portion of the Pines Mobile Home Court the units once completed could be made available to those displaced by the new construction. Basically what would be taking place is the replacement of substandard, low and moderate income housing with safe quality new housing for low families 6. The Berglund Johnson parcel in the southwest corner of the City. 7. The piece of property at the end of llth Avenue, south of.Westbrooke. I talked to HUD about the possibility of Hopkins submitting an application for some public housing units. They felt this would be a very positive move in meeting our housing goals and encouraged us to proceed.
