Ordinance 81-487CITY OF HOPKINS HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA ORDINANCE NO. 81 -487 AN ORDINANCE :,A ENDING. HOPKINS ORDINANCE 79- 464 AS IT PERTAINS TO THE FOLLOWING BUILD- IN, PLUMBING, HEATING, HOUSING,- ELECTRICAL CODES, MOBILE HOMES, FIRE CODE AND OTHER RE- LATED MATTERS BE IT ORDAINED by the City Counsil of the City of Hopkins as follows: Section 1. That the following provisions of Section 1, of Hopkins Ordinance No. 79 -464 be and the .same are hereby amended and'.shall..read as follows, and are hereby passed and adopted by reference with the same force and effect as if all such materials, provisions, codes, regulations and other matters contained therein were set forth herein verbatim. One copy of each and all of such codes, materials, addenda, regulations and all other provisions in connection and pertaining thereto as hereinafter set forth, are on file for public inspection in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Hopkins: A. State Building Code of the State of Minnesota, 1980 Edition, as compiled and published by the office of the Minnesota State Register, Department of Administration, including all appendix materials duly adopted in connection therewith by the Minnesota Department of Administration, except appendix D thereof. B. Uniform Building Code (UBC), 1979 Edition, as published by Inter- national Conference of Building Officials and as passed and adopted by the State of Minnesota, except Chapters 51 and 60 thereof, but specifically including appendix chapters 11, 12, 23, 32, 35, 38, 48, 49, 55, 57 and 70 heretofore adopted and issued. C. All Uniform Building Code Standards, 1979 Edition, published and issued by International Conference of Building Officials. D. American National Standard Safety Code, 1978 Edition (ANSI-A17.1- 1978), A17.1b, and 1980 amendments thereof, pertaining to elevators, dumbwaiters, escalators, and moving walks as published by American Society of Mechanical Engineers. E. The Minnesota Plumbing Code, 1979 Edition, as amended, MHD 120 through 135, including Appendices A,B,C and D as adopted by the Minnesota State Board of Health, together with amendments thereto existing at the date hereof. H. Uniform Housing Code, 1979 Edition, including all references therein contained in the 1979 Uniform Building Code, National Electrical Code., Minnesota Health Department, Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Code, and pertinent parts of the Minnesota State Building Code as adopted and issued by the International Conference of Building Officials. M. Third Edition of Mobile Home Standards Part 280 CJ'K, the Regulations, Part 3282 CFR, and the National Mobile Home Construction and Safety Standards Act, all as established and published by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, and 1980 amendments thereof. N. Any and all amendments, regulations, explanations, descriptions, and all other related descriptive and similar material issued and adopted in connection with any of the above codifications and materials, as amended. 0. The Uniform Fire Code, 1979 Edition, as approved, adopted, published and copywrited by the International Conference of Building Officials and by th Western ;Fire_Chie.fs Association and approved _.by 'the: Minnesota .Fire: Marshal articles 1 through 84, and including appendices A through J; together with and including the provisions of the 1980 Edition of the National Fire Codes of the National Fire Protection Association(NWA) consisting of volumes 1 through 16 inclusive. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that adopted the 1978 National Electrical hereby added to, made a part of, and No. 79-464 and is hereby amended and Hopkins Ordinance No. 78 -447, which Code by reference, be and the same is merged into and with Hopkins Ordinance adopted as follows: Section 2. That the National Electrical Code 1981 as adopted by the National Fire Protection Association and approved by the American National Standards Institute and adopted by the State of Minnesota and made a part of the Minnesota Uniform Building Code, a copy of which 1981 Edition is on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Hopkins, is hereby enacted, adopted and ordained by reference with the same force and effect as though it were published herein verbatim, including therewith all indexes, table of contents, explanations, bulletins, and other similar matter contained in reference to, described, and otherwise mentioned therein. P. INSTALLATION STANDARDS: All new electrical installations shall be in strict conformity with the Electrical Code. In every case where no specific methods of construction are prescribed in said Hopkins Code, such material and method of construction shall be in conformity with the existing National Electrical Code, approved by the American Standards Association, a copy of which is on file for public in- spection in the office of the City Clerk. Whenever special hard- ships exist an application may be made to the chief electrical inspector for a variance, which upon satisfactory proof may be granted to him. That the title of Ordinance No. 79-464 is hereby amended by adding to said title the phrase, "AND ADOPTING THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE That in all other respects the provisions as contained in Hopkins Ordinance No. 79-464 shall remain in full force and effect. First read at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Hopkins held February 3, 1981 and finally read, approved, adopted and ordered published at a regular meeting of said Council of said City on Marchy3, 1981.
