2. Agreed that 148 seats would be removed from the existing to put
in Hopkins 4 auditorium.
3. Removal of the seats will be done, but T am requesting that we
a. control the sale in the auditorium to 148 seats less
by roping off, or restrict sale of that number.
b. 'removal of those seats only as a last resort.
Removal of those chairs would seriously hamper the possibility o
1. Having Hopkins Merchants shows (being able to give away
movie tickets to the Hopkins Merchants customers for
special shows as we have on Saturday mornings and
Holiday promotions).
2. Being able to be involved in community activities.
For example, one of the churches in Hopkins, before
it was built used the Hopkins Theatre auditorium as
a chapel.
3. The large theatre has also been used for a meeting place
for businesses such as Red Owl for stock holders
meetings, as well as business meetings.
4. Hopkins Theatre is currently being filmed weekly for the
WCCO P.M. Magazine program, for their Thursday evening
movie review. This week they are filming the theatre
for a national broadcast syndication. This all adds
to the glamour of "Theatres as they were Removal of
those chairs would change the ability for the theatre to
become involved ,In the above mentioned activities, and
would not interfere with parking on our lot.
My proposal;
I would guarantee that the theatre could only sell 500 tickets
at any performance advertised as a regular show. The only time we
would use those seats, that were counted for Hopkins 4, is when we
have a use for the theatre during a promotion, church group, civic
or business meeting use, where we would need an auditorium of that
seating capacity.
