Dear Bill:
In a recent conversation Martin Rafferty had with Pat Cashin of
c our company, he indicated the City had an interest in ascertaining
the arrangements Super Valu may have made with The Milwaukee Road
involving the railroad's access if Washington Avenue is vacated.
Although I believe The Milwaukee Road's participation with us in
the Petition to vacate both Washington Avenue and Milwaukee Street
is indicative of alternative satisfactory arrangements having been
made for their access, I would like to take this opportunity to
assure the City of Hopkins that such is the case.
We have discussed with the Milwaukee Railroad's personnel
located in the Minneapolis area the possibility of using Fifth
Avenue South as an alternative access to their depot. Subsequently,
we received a letter from B. J. McCanna, Division Manager of The
Milwaukee Road's Minneapolis office, assuring us the Fifth Avenue
access along their right -of -way is a satisfactory alternative.
Super Valu will reimburse the Railroad for reasonable expenses
incurred in improving that access.
If you feel anything further is necessary, would you' please
advise.
