Memo- Discussion of Future Use of 20th Ave Propertya MEMO To: City Council and Zoning and Planning Commission From: Nancy Anderson Date: August 25, 2006 Subject: Discussion of Future Use of 20t" Avenue Property The City currently manages 10 townhomes at 29-107 20t" Avenue South. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has given approval to raze the townhomes on 20t" Avenue. After the townhomes are demolished the land will be for sale at public bid. The funds received from the sale of the land will be returned to the Hopkins HRA to fund capital improvements at Dow Towers. The families currently residing on 20t" Avenue should be relocated by November 2006. It is hoped that the townhomes will be razed by January 2007, depending on the weather. The property should be ready for construction season in 2007. The discussion for tonight's meeting is the future use of the land. The property is zoned R-1-B, Single Family, High Density. There are currently three lots available for redevelopment.
