NINE MILE CREEK RESTORATION TOUR:
City Engineer John Bradford led the City Council on a tour of the Nine Mile Creek project area in south
Hopkins. Work is expected to begin this fall on this project. The Council also discussed and toured the
proposed 5 Street South area whereby creek restoration and street /utility improvement work would be done in
2010.
BLAKE SCHOOL/HABITAT UPDATE:
Staff updated the City Council on the Blake School /Habitat discussions.

Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Present were Mayor Maxwell and Council
members Halverson, Brausen, Rowan, Youakim and City Manager Rick Getschow; Public Works
Director Steve Stadler, City Engineer John Bradford, and Director of Planning and Economic
Development Kersten Elverum.
A neighborhood committee meeting will be held in September to discuss Blake School's expansion
plans;
The first Habitat home will begin construction in mid September;
Staff will meet with Blake and Habitat to discuss the negotiations the two parties have had; and
Staff with work with Blake, the watershed district, and other necessary parties to gauge storage and
ponding requirements in the area.
Council member Brausen discussed the Interlachen neighborhood concern with the speed and traffic in and
around St. John's. City Manager Getschow and the Police Department will follow -up.
City Manager Getschow updated the City Council on the Hopkins in Motion event. The Oasis ribbon cutting
will take place at 2 :00 p.m. on that day also.

Getschow stated that date for the employee recognition lunch is proposed to be on Friday, October 23 at the
Hopkins Activity Center. Staff will work to find a local food vendor.
With no further business, a motion was made by Youakim, seconded by Brausen to adjourn the meeting. The
motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 pm.
