Anderson SUBJECT: Temporary Civic Signs This is the public hearing for the proposed ordinance for temporary civic signs. This oridinace will allow temporary civic signs in the City. Currently the zoning ordinance does not regulate these signs. Your action will be to approve the proposed ordinance and send to Council for first reading. CITY OF HOPKINS Hennepin County, Minnesota ORDINANCE NO: 88 -619 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING HOPKINS ZONING ORDINANCE NO: 515 -570 PERTAINING TO SIGNS BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Hopkins as follows: That the Hopkins Zoning Ordinance No. 570 by and the same is hereby amended by adding the following provisions: 570.24 Subdivision 1. Civic Signs. Civic and City groups are allowed temporary signs for city -wide and community events. The total size for all signs shall be 250 square feet. Subdivision 2. Time Limit. Temporary signs for city -wide and community events shall be erected no more than seven (7) days prior to the event and removed within two (2) days following the event. Subdivision 3. Removal. The owner or manager of the signs, the owner of the land, or sponsoring civic group, shall be equally responsible for the ultimate removal of the sign. Setback requirements may be waived for such signs provided that they are on the property with the express consent of the property owner, and provided they do not impede safety by obstructing vision of pedestrians or motor vehicle operations. First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hopkins held on September 6, 1988, and finally read, approved, adopted and ordered published at a regular meeting of said Council of said City on September 20, 1988.
