Billboards & Signsy Section 409:00 (1973) Section 409--- Billboards and Signs • Section 409100. Billboards and Signs Whenever used in this ordinance or any other Hopkins ordinance, the terms "billboards" and "signs" are synonymous. Section 409101. Permits and Licenses Whenever used in this ordinance or any other Hopkins ordinance, the terms "permits" and "licenses '' are synonymous. Section 409 :05. pillboards and Signs - Permit ReQuired No billboard or sign shall be erected, altered, reconstructed, maintained or moved anywhere in the City of Hopkins without first securing a permit therefor from the City of Hopkins. 'Application for such permit shall be in writing addressed to the Hopkins Building Inspector and shall contain but not be limited to at least the following informationo (a) Exact location of proposed sign including address and legal des- cription of premises. (b) Name and address of owner of sign. (c) Name and address of premises where proposed sign is to be located. (d) Size and dimensions of sign. (e) Cost of sign. (f) Purpose and intended duration. • Section 40906. Fees The follows fee shall i 9 following s all be paid in connection with each sign permit: (a) For each sign the value of which does not exceed $500.00 the fees shall be $5.00. (b) For each sign having a value from $500.00 but not exceeding $1,000.00 the fee shall be $8.00. (c) For any sign the value of which exceeds $1,000.00 the fee shall be $8.00 plus $2.00 per thousand or any fraction thereof in excess of one thousand. Such fees shall be paid before the issuance of any sign permit. Section 409108. Size of Billboards Permitted No billboard shall exceed 250 square feet in area. Section 409 :30. Repairs Every billboard or sign located in this municipality which may now be or hereafter become out of order, rotten or unsafe, and every billboard or sign which shall hereafter be erected, altered, resurfaced, re- constructed or moved contrary to the provisions of this Section, shall be removed or otherwise properly secured in accordance with the terms of this Section by the owners thereof or by the owners of the ground on which said • billboard or sign shall stand, upon receipt of proper notice so to do, given by the City Manager; and no rotten or other unsafe billboards shall be repaired or rebuilt except in accordance with the provisions of this Section and upon a permit issued by the City Manager. 73 Section 409140 (1973) Section 409 :40. LJ r person, owner repair be said sign 0 73 0 409.50 Subd. 2 In all zoning districts except B -2, no sign affixed vertically to a side or wall of a building shall project therefrom greater than 15 inches over existing sidewalk, street or highway. In a B -2 District over hanging signs are permitted at intervals of not less than 25 feet. The dimensions of such overhanging signs shall not exceed eighteen inches wide by sixteen inches high (18 "x16 "x2 "), shall extend no more than twenty -four inches (24 ") from the wall or side of the building to which said sign is attached and shall be mounted no lower than eight feet (8'0 ") from the sidewalk.
