Ctr.• April 17, 1985 Case No: 85 -24 Applicant: Hopkins Eisenhower Community Center Location: 1001 Highway No. 7 Request: Variance to locate a sign STAFF FINDINGS & COMMENTS: Anderson 1. Applicant is requesting a variance to locate a 8'x20' sign at 1001 Highway 7 the present site of the Hopkins Eisenhower Community Center. The site is zoned R -1 -D. 2. The proposed sign is 160 square feet_, with a proposed setback of 35 feet. Ordinance 427.42(17) allows 12 square feet per surface plus. 2 square foot per surface for.each one foot of setback greater than.30 feet, plus the total area of all signs in an R -1 -D district is 50 square feet. 3. The proposed sign is to be 16 feet high. The sign will have six rows of change- able letters that will-be black in color, and the sign will be internally illum- inated. 4. Ordinance 427.23 states that variances shall be approved only by circumstances unique to the property under consideration would cause undue hardship to owner.
