Subject: Rezoning of Southwest Hopkins
At the last Zoning and Planning meeting, the rezoning for the
City landfill was continued because the hearing notice that was published
consisted of only site 18 that is detailed on the enclosed map. Since
the hearing date there has been discussion of the possible rezoning of the
east section of the landfill and also a section of the Westbrooke Patio
Homes. The possible areas to be considered for rezoning are:
1. site 18 from R -6 to I -1, this site was already
approved for a hearing
2. the easterly section of the landfill from the
east line of site 18 to the Westbrooke Patio
Homes, from R -6 to I -1. This would make all
of the landfill an Industrial District.
3. rezone the strip of Westbrooke Patio Homes
from R -6 to R -2. This rezoning would eliminate
a small strip of R -6 and make all of the Patio
Homes consistent with the same zoning. The
Comprehensive Plan does not have an R -6 district
and suggests an R -2 district at this site.
The Commission should decide which areas they wish to consider for change
and set a public hearing for the next Zoning and Planning meeting.
