A regular
meeting of the Hopkins Zoning and Planning Commission was held on
Tuesday,
June 26, 1984, at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City
Hall.
• Present were Chair Eddy, members Berg, Folk, Janke, Kirscht. Milbert and
Tickle.
Also present were City Manager Craig, City Engineer Strojan,
Community
Development Director Kerrigan and Community Development Analyst
Anderson.
Item:
Mr. Folk moved and Mr. Milbert seconded a motion that the minutes

of the May 29, 1984 meeting be approved and signed. Motion carried.
Case No:
Hearing on an application by Gary Duda of 1413 Cambridge Street for

a variance to construct an addition to an existing garage to exceed

the maximum permitted square footage by 408 square feet.
Mr. Duda explained the request to the Commission and presented a
letter from abutting property owners stating that they were in
agreement with the request.
Action:
Mr. Janke moved and Mr. Folk seconded a motion recommending to the
Council denial of the request because the garage would be too large
and there is no hardship indicated. Motion carried.
Mr. Folk moved and Mr. Milbert seconded a motion recommending to the
Council approval of a variance of 11 feet to construct an 18 foot
addition to the existing garage for a total structure not to exceed
720 square feet based on the fact that the lot is larger than the
average lot and to enable the applicant to proceed with plans.
Motion carried unanimously.
Case No:
Hearing on an application by Share Clinic Properties for a Conditional

Use Permit to construct a Share Health Clinic at the southeast corner
195 -486
of Second Avenue and Seventh Street South.
Mr. Greg Bradbury, developer and Mr. Roy Fredrickson of Share, explained
the project to the Commission. They stated that they would be meeting

with the Park Valley neighborhood this week to review their plans.
Mr. Craig.Hinricks of Park Valley contacted Mr. Kerrigan and said that
the neighborhood was in agreement with the project but that they felt
a brick exterior rather than cedar would be nice and asked that the
signs not be illuminated.
Action:
Mr. Folk moved and Mrs. Tickle seconded a motion recommending to the
Council approval of the Conditional Use Permit to construct a Share
Health Clinic at Second Avenue and Seventh Street South as proposed
in Case No. 84 -23 with signage not to exceed the size of the proposed
signs in any of the locations shown on the site plan.
Mr. Milbert moved and Mr. Berg seconded a motion to amend the motio

Additional information in regard to the landscape requirements.

Mr. Berg moved and Mr. Folk seconded a motion that the proposed landscape
requirements be sent to the City Attorney to be put into ordinance form
End then returned to the Zoning and Planning Commission for review and
to set a date for hearing. Motion carried unanimously.

• Item: Additional information in regard to proposed changes in the sign
776 -1012 ordinance.
Action: Mr. Milbert moved and Mr. Kirscht seconded a motion that the proposed
changes in the sign ordinance be sent to the City Attorney to be put
into ordinance form and returned to the Commission for review and to
set a date for hearing. It was the feeling of the Commission that they
would like an appearance by the City Attorney or a memo in regard to
the proposed changes. Motion carried unanimously.
Action: Mrs. Tickle moved and Mr. Janke seconded a motion that the meeting be
adjourned. Motion carried.
