Subject: 10th Avenue North Parking Lot
A recent count was made on the number of parking spaces existing
in the 10th Avenue North parking lot. The spaces, as constructed and as
proposed are shown on the attached plan. A total of 255 spaces now are
marked or used. The Benshoof plan as approved indicated there were to be
245 spaces but a count of the spaces on the plan shows 247. The above does
not include parking for 1 car on 10th Avenue North in front of the First
National Bank Drive -in facility or any of the spaces on 9th Avenue North
or along the Hance building.

Re: Parking on 10th Avenue North
The Recommended Concept Plan for the 10th Avenue North parking lot
revisions as adopted by the City Council in 1983 showed three parallel
parking stalls to be constructed on the east side of 10th Avenue North
between Excelsior Avenue (see copy). The parking area has curb protru-
sions into 10th Avenue North on the north and south ends.
This area, as constructed, would allow 60° angle parking on the
east side. If 60° angle parking were allowed, 8 cars could be parked in
that stretch instead of the present three, parking parallel. The width
of the street would allow angle parking on one side and parallel parking
on the west as it is at present. The attached photos show two cars,
parked at an angle, showing an adequate street width for turning and pass-
ing movements. A revised copy of the approved plan is attached, showing
the proposed possible change.
