APPOINTMENT OF ELECTION JUDGES
FOR 2010 STATE General
Staff recommends approval of the following motion: Move to appoint the attached list
of persons to serve as Election Judges for the State General Election to be held on
November 2, 2010 and set the wage at $10.00 per hour for Chair Judges and $9.50
per hour for Election Judges and also appoint all members appointed to the Hennepin
County Absentee Ballot Board as authorized under Minn. Stat. 20413.21, subd. 2 under
the direction of the Election Manager to serve as members of the Hopkins Absentee
Ballot Board.

State Statute requires that Election Judges for precincts in a municipality be appointed
and their wages be fixed by the governing body of the municipality.
The Chair Judges have served as election judges previously and have been chosen for
their experience. The Chair Judges have been involved in choosing the precinct team.
Training is provided for all appointed election judges.
The Absentee Ballot Board will be accepting, rejecting, duplicating and tabulating the
absentee ballots here at City Hall. In essence, six new precincts are created for the
absentee ballots. They will be tabulated and totaled separately.
Hennepin County will also establish an absentee ballot board. The Hennepin County
Board will process all overseas and military ballots as well as those of Hennepin County
residents that walk into the Center to vote by absentee. Some of those voters will also
be Hopkins residents.
