Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve an On -Sale Wine
and On -Sale 3.2% Malt Liquor, including strong beer, license for Alch Brothers, LLC,
dba Ali Japanese Restaurant 712 Mainstreet.
Overview
Shan Qui Li and Pin Chen have formed a limited liability company to operate Aji
Japanese Restaurant. They are applying for a wine and 3.2% beer license that will
allow them to serve wine and strong beer. The restaurant would be located at the site
of the former Camille's Sidewalk Cafe. They will serve sushi, noodle bowls, and other
oriental entrees. They do not plan to include the outdoor seating in their service area.
State Statute requires that a restaurant have seating at tables where meals will be
served for a minimum of 25 people. The plans submitted by Mr. Li and Mr. Chen show
seating for 54 people at tables. Wine and beer are to be served in conjunction with the
sale of food.
A certificate of insurance showing Liquor Liability has been submitted. The Police have
• completed the background investigation and have found no reason to deny.
Primary Issues to Consider
There is no limit to the number of wine licenses that the City may issue. This is a
routine application.
