APPROVE 2011 LOCAL 49 CONTRACT
Proposed Action
Staff recommends that the Council approve the following motion: Move approval of the 2011 Contract
with LOCAL #49 representing Hopkins' Public Works Employees
This action will ratify the 2011 contract with the Public Works employees.
Overview
The contract calls for a 0% wage increase effective January 1, 2011. Local 49 received a 3% wage increase
in 2010. This was the third year of a three year contract agreed to in December of 2007. The Sergeants,
HMEA, and the Dispatchers all agreed to a 0% increase in 2010. HMEA and the Dispatchers have signed
contracts which call for a 2% wage increase in 2011. Local 49 will not receive a wage increase in 2011.
The contract also provides for identical insurance provisions as were agreed to for HMEA and the
Dispatchers for 2011.
Primary Issues to Consider
• What other economic issues are included in the new contract?
• How does this agreement fit in with the 2011 budget?
• How does this agreement compare to other contract settlements for 2011 in terms of wage and benefit
increases?
