2011-049 Supporting the Acquisition of the Property at 325 Blake Rd
City of Hopkins Hennepin County, Minnesota RESOLUTION NO. 2011-049 Supporting the acquisition of the property at 325 Blake Rd. WHEREAS, the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) is considering the acquisition of property at 325 Blake Road in the City of Hopkins for the purpose of protecting and enhancing the Minnehaha Creek riparian corridor, and has negotiated a purchase agreement for the property; and WHEREAS, in 2010 the City entered into a cooperative agreement with the MCWD to coordinate redevelopment and water resource management efforts within the riparian corridor in order to maximize the public benefits of such efforts including community livability, economic enhancement of lands, water quality and access to Minnehaha Creek for recreational and educational purposes; and WHEREAS, the City and the MCWD have worked closely under the terms of the cooperative agreement to establish and implement redevelopment goals and concepts for the creek corridor, and both parties have committed to continuing to do so; and WHEREAS, in a letter dated September 13th, 2011, signed by MCWD Administrator L. Eric Evenson, the MCWD has communicated its concept for preserving and enhancing the riparian corridor while facilitating the use of the remainder of the property for redevelopment; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City supports the MCWD's acquisition of the property; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the MCWD'S concept for use and redevelopment of the property is consistent with the City's land use intent as articulated in its comprehensive land use plan, and that the City commits to work together with the MCWD to ensure that use and redevelopment fulfills the potential to serve the public purposes described above that underlies the MCWD's acquisition decision, provided such use and redevelopment shall be consistent and in compliance with the City's comprehensive land use plan and code of ordinances.
