Minutes - 01/05/2010 WS January 5, 2010 Page 1.��` • MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING Tuesday, January 5, 2010 Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 7:40 pm. Present were Mayor Maxwell and Council members, Brausen, Halverson; Youakim, Bruce Rowan, Public Works Director Steve Stadler and City Manager Rick Getschow SNOW REMOVAL: Public Works Director Stadler gave the Council an update on the snow removal since the snow storms of late December to the present. POLICE SEARCH PROCESS: City Manager Getschow briefly discussed the process to be used to fill the Police Chief's position due to the retirement of Chief Reid in May of 2010. The City staff, Police staff and City Council will be involved in providing feedback for developing a profile for the recruitment of the position. Many will also be involved in �he interview process leading to a City Manager's selection in April or May of 2010. STATE OF THE CITY: The Mayor and City Council began to discuss the plans for the State of the City address on February 23 2010 from 5:00 — 7:00 p.m. at the Center for the Arts. OTHER: • City Manager Getschow stated that Opportunity Partners have requested the presence of the Mayor and Council at an event at March to discuss the role of the Mayor and City Council in the City of Hopkins. • City Manager Getschow stated that the second event of Engaging Raspberry Renters with Ramsgate will be Wednesday, February l O at 7:00 p.m. at Ramsgate. Elected officials are encouraged to attend that event. • Council member Halverson asked if the City knew anything about the major motion picture film in Hopkins. City Manager Getschow stated that he had just heard this morning that the filming will occur in Hopkins. More details later. • Council member Rowan requested an update on the Stages lease discussion. City Manager • Getschow, Mayor Maxwell and Council member Brausen provided a brief update. • Council member Youakim had stated that if the City is indeed considering special TIF legislation to get something in to our representatives within the next week. January 5, 2010 Page 2 ` � �ith no further business, a motion was made by Youakim, seconded by Brausen to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 pm.
