MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
. AT CONCLU5ION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Tuesday, May 1, 2007
Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 8:28 pm. Present were Mayor Maxwell and Council
members Halverson, Thompson, Rowan and Youakim. City personnel present were City Manager Rick
Getschow.
Other
• Council Member Rowan had questions regarding who in the city deals with for compliance of contracts
related to the resident status of workers under contract for the city. City Manager Getschow will get back
to him.
• Council Member Rowan asked if there are plans for the 10�' Anniversary of the Hopkins Center for the
Arts. City Manager Getschow stated that he had heard there will be some events celebrating 10 years but
he will check.further into that. In fact, HCA, Inc. will be the topic of the work session on May 8�'.
• Mayor Maxwell stated that he had seen the sentence-to-serve crew working in Hopkins and also asked a
few questions about some potential outstanding or warranty items related to the Excelsior Boulevard
streetscape work.
• Council Member Youakim had questions regarding recreational fires on residential property. City
Manager Getschow stated that Fire Chief Specken will prepare something to get out to the Council, and if
necessary, the residents.
• City Manager Getschow stated that he will be getting bac�C to the Council soon regarding the City's
ability to provide graffiti product. Council members stated a few other areas where they have seen
• graffiti in the city.
• City Manager Getschow stated that demolitions had begun for the 20�' Avenue townhomes and also far
the small building on Mainstreet for the Marketplace & Main project.
• City Manager Getschow provided an update to the Council on some public safety issues on Madison
Circle and at the Hopkins Library.
• City Manager Getschow passed out the flier for the Annual Faith Community meeting which is taking
place next Tuesday, May 8�' from 5:30-7pm.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Halvorson, seconded by Thompson to adjourn the
meeting. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 pm.
