June 20,1978 CC A regular meeting o the Council of the City of Hopkins, Minnesota, was held on Tuesday, June 20, 1978, at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers in the City Hall. • Present were Mayor iller, Councilmen McDonald, Milbert, Slaton and Lohmann, also City Manager C aig, City Clerk Richardson, City Engineer Strojan, Asst. Engineer, Anderson,I Operations Director Beecher, Building Inspector Kohnen and Acting City Attprney Keefe. Absent: City Attorney Vesely. Reel 136 Mr. Mill�ert moved, and Mr. McDonald seconded the motion, that the Side 1 three (3) items under the CONSENT CALENDAR, be approved: 8-12 l. Minutesl of the June 6, 1978 Council meeting. 2. Additio�nal 1978 misc. license application: 1 Mechanical Amusement Device - HOPKINS DODGE. 3. Reques by Geo. R. Wolff Post #425, V.F.W., for renewal of their bingo ermit for April, May, June, July, August and September 1978. Action: Mr. McDon ld moved, and Dr. Slaton seconded the motion, that the expenditu es dated June 20, 1978, Warrant No. 541, in the amount of $389,299. 7, be approved and authorized for payment. Motion carried un- animously Bid: Pursuant to notice bids were opened on June 14, 1978, at 1:00 p.m. for street lighi�s and fixtures and the following bid was received: (1) United Elect�ric Corp., in the amount of $84,098.00. Action: Mr. Milbe�t moved, and Dr. Slaton seconded the motion, that because 38-193 of receiv�ng only one bid and also because of a legal technicality, that this,item be referred to the City Attorney for his legal opinion and be br�ught back to Council at the July 18, 1978, Council meeting. Mr� Milbert moved, and Mr. Lohmann seconded the motion, that Re olution No. 78-2694, "RESOLUTION ORDERING REMOVAL OF IN- FE TED TREES ON/OR IN BLOCK 1, DAVISON'S ADDITION TO WEST MI NEAPOLIS", be adopted and that the cost for this removal be placed on the tax rolls. Action: Mr. McDonald moved, and Mr. Lohmann seconded the motion, that the 695-847 Engineer's Report on the completion of the Old Post Office park site be continu d to the July 18, 1978, Council meeting and that the Chairman of the Park Board and the Director of Parks and Recreation be invited to attend this meeting regarding this report. Mr. Milbert moved, and Mr. Lohmann seconded the motion, that 847-895 Resolution No. 78-2693, "A RESOLUTION DECLARING CERTAIN REAL • ESTATE OWNED BY THE CITY OF HOPKINS PREVIOUSLY USED AS A PART O THE SANITARY LANDFILL AS SURPLUS PROPERTY AND ODERING AND A THORIZING THE SALE THEREOF", be continued to the July 18, 1978, Council meeting. Action: Mr. McDonald moved, and Mr. Milbert seconded the motion, that the 895-1016 Engineer's Report on the cost of upgrading the Burlington-Northern R.R. R/W for a parking lot, be approved and the City Manager be directed to negotiate the leasing of these parking facilities to adjacent�businesses.
