$800/unit to $1,500/unit.

The park capital improvement fund will not keep pace with the upcoming costs of
needed park system improvements. Our current $800/unit park dedication fee
required of residential developers when platting or replatting property for
improvements is the lowest per unit fee in the Twin Cities area. The closest per
unit fee is $1,500/unit — Fridley and St. Louis Park. The developer -paid park
dedication fees are not the only potential source of funds for park improvements.
The Park Board is continuing to consider and explore other funding options and
has also begun a detailed review of park condition and needs. Currently, the only
possible residential development that could be impacted by the new rate would be
the block 64 redevelopment site (5th -6th Ave/Mainstreet) and it is uncertain when
this redevelopment may occur.
