Community Bulletin Board
Earlier this year, the City was approached by Garrett Leatherman, an Eagle Scout in Troop
346. He asked whether he could take on a project that would consist of replacing the green
wooden bulletin board which is located between the Post Office and City Hall.
We were happy to oblige him inasmuch as the board was old and was not particularly
attractive.
Garrett worked with Public Works in coordinating demolition. The board shelters an electrical
box which had to be worked around. Public Works also arranged for removal of the old wood.
Garrett, and his father, solicited materials from local merchants and during the summer
rebuilt the bulletin board. They added a small overhanging roof to better protect posted
announcements from the weather.
The project is now complete. Garrett has been invited to the October 16 Council Meeting in
order to give him public recognition for this contribution to Hopkins.
Below are some pictures of the work as well as a note from Garrett and a photo of the
completed project.
