Park System Capital Improvement Needs and FundingPublic Works Department Memorandum To: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council From: Steven J. Stadler, Public Works Director Copy: Mike Mornson, City Manager Date: January 24, 2013 Subject: Park System Capital Improvement Needs and Funding The Park Board continues to be concerned about inadequate future park system funding and being able to sustain our parks' infrastructure. This topic was previously discussed at worksessions in February and August 2012. These discussions led to an August 2012 City Council approval to increase our residential multi -unit park dedication fee from $800/unit to $1,500/unit. However, increased revenues from this source are tenuous. The Park Board would like this opportunity to provide their input on what they believe is needed to help ensure that our park system grows with the community and continues to enhance the quality of life for Hopkins residents.
