CR 2013-027 Approve Extension of Assessing Services ContractApril 2, 2013 Council Report 2013-027 APPROVE EXTENSION OF ASSESSING SERVICES CONTRACT Proposed Action Staff recommends that the Council approve the following motion: Move approval of extending the Contract with Hennepin County for the provision of Assessing Services. This action will extend the assessing contract with Hennepin County for another three years. Overview Hennepin County has been providing assessing services for Hopkins since 2004. At that time staff estimated that the annual savings to the City would be approximately $75,000. Nine years later, staff estimates that the annual savings are still in the $80,000 range. Hennepin County has also provided good service to the City and its residents. The current contract expires on July 31, 2013. The contract will allow for a three year extension. This contract provided for assessment services through the 2013 assessment. Please communicate to your Council that in order for Hennepin County to continue to serve as your City Assessor, a new contract must be executed. Please indicate your intentions at your earliest convenience to aid us in staff and workload assignments for the 2014 assessment and I will have the County Attorney's Office draft a new contract for your review in the next couple of weeks.
