CR 2013-027 Approve Extension of Assessing Services ContractApril 2, 2013 Council Report 2013-027
APPROVE EXTENSION OF
ASSESSING SERVICES CONTRACT
Proposed Action
Staff recommends that the Council approve the following motion: Move approval of extending the
Contract with Hennepin County for the provision of Assessing Services.
This action will extend the assessing contract with Hennepin County for another three years.
Overview
Hennepin County has been providing assessing services for Hopkins since 2004. At that time staff
estimated that the annual savings to the City would be approximately $75,000. Nine years later, staff
estimates that the annual savings are still in the $80,000 range.
Hennepin County has also provided good service to the City and its residents.
The current contract expires on July 31, 2013. The contract will allow for a three year extension. Staff
recommends that the City Council authorize this extension.

Dear Mr. Mornson:
Re: Assessment Agreement A031167

expires July 31, 2013. This contract provided for assessment services through the 2013
assessment. Please communicate to your Council that in order for Hennepin County to continue
to serve as your City Assessor, a new contract must be executed.

assignments for the 2014 assessment and I will have the County Attorney's Office draft a new
contract for your review in the next couple of weeks.
We truly appreciate our professional relationship with the City of Hopkins and I look forward to
continuing to perform assessment services. If you or the Council have any questions concerning
