MINUTES OF HOPKINS HRA SPECIAL MEETING
June 18, 2013
A special meeting of the Hopkins Housing and Redevelopment Authority
was held June 18, 2013, at Hopkins City Hall. Present were Chairman
Eugene Maxwell, Board Members Molly Cummings, Jason Gadd, Kristi
Halverson and Cheryl Youakim. Also present were Executive Director
Mike Mornson, Assistant Executive Director Kersten Elverum and City
Attorney Jerry Steiner.
I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m.
II. NEW BUSINESS
ITEM 2013-05 Public hearing on the sale of land at 20 and 24 Shady
Oak Road
Ms. Elverum presented this item and explained the background behind
the Shady Oak Road project and the associated Hennepin County
Community Works funds. She explained that the transfer of the
properties at 20, 24 and 108 Shady Oak Road to Mokabaka, LLC, was
part of the negotiations on the acquisition of property needed to
achieve the redevelopment goals of the Community Works funds. Mr.
Steiner explained that the development agreement would not be
executed until approximately September, when the HRA closes on the
Syndicate Sales and Mokabaka property.
The public hearing was opened; no one came forward to speak.
Commissioner Halverson moved, Commissioner Youakim seconded, to
close the public hearing. The motion was approved unanimously, and
the hearing was closed.
Commissioner Gadd moved, Commissioner Youakim seconded, to approve
the Purchase and Development Agreement. The motion was approved
unanimously.
III. ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Halverson moved, Commissioner Gadd seconded, to
adjourn the meeting. The motion was approved unanimously. The
meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
