CR 92-26 Gambling License Hopkins Elks \ ,. y 0 :m: OPK\~ January 13, 1992 Report #92-26 .GAMBLING LICENSE APPLICATION BY THE HOPKINS ELKS Proposed Action. staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move that the Hopkins City Council adopt Resolution #92-9 approving the gamblinq license application of the Hopkins Elks #2221. Adoption of this motion will allow the application to be considered by the Minnesota Department of Gaming. Overview. The Hopkins Elks have requested a gambling license for 1992. This is an renewal of the license that the Elks currently hold. Gambling will be "conducted at the Elks Lodge, 30 South 8th Avenue. Primary Issues to Consider. o Does this application meet the criteria of the City's gambling policy? Yes. o Has the organization conducted its past gambling activities in accordance with state and local laws? Yes. Alternatives: 1) Approve Resolution #92-9. This will result in the application being considered by the Department of Gaming. 2) Do not approve the Resolution. This will result in the Department of Gaming turning down the license. staff recommends Alternative #1. supporting Information. o Resolution #92-9 o Gambling License Application - available from City Clerk city Clerk CITY OF HOPKINS Hennepin County, Minnesota RESOLUTION NO. 92-9 WHEREAS, the Hopkins Elks have been an integral part of the Hopkins Community, and WHEREAS, the Hopkins Elks have applied for a gambling license to conduct lawful gambling in 1992, and WHEREAS, the Hopkins Elks have conducted gambling activities in accordance with state law and Hopkins city policy, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Hopkins hereby approves the Hopkins Elks gambling application.
